In April of 2011, the Department of Real Estate Services commissioned JVP Engineers (as the Prime Contractor) to provide design services for the expansion of the data center located on the first floor of the administration building of the District of Columbia Central Detention Facility located at 1901 D Street, SE in Washington, DC. The space was expanded in order to accommodate additional processing computers. Changes were made to the HVAC system to support the additional load, supplementing the existing AC Unit and associated condensing unit, pump and piping by providing two new, ten ton AC Units (down flow at the floor and associated pump packages and condensing (dry cooler) units on the roof. This system provides the space with the required air conditioning and also provides redundancy.
Additionally, electrical modifications were made to fix the inadequate electrical service capacity on the first floor so that it could accommodate the proposed computer room air conditioning unit and other related loads.
