This building conversion posed significant challenges in terms of mechanical and electrical design. These systems in particular had to be designed with close tolerances, all while respecting existing fabric. The interior structure was removed completely and a new structure was dropped in. The redesign changed the 2.5-story building into a 5-story building with enough height compression so that the new roof barely lifts above the original cornice. JVP Engineers provided the complete mechanical and electrical design for the adaptive reuse of the building.
