Frostburg State University – CCIT Building

This 127,000 GSF facility sits in the heart of the Frostburg State University campus and houses the Computer Science, Mathematics, Graphic Arts, Academic Computing, and Mass Communication departments, the local radio station WMFM and a Planetarium/Atmospherium.

JVP Engineers provided the design for the electrical (lighting), plumbing & fire protection systems for the construction of the new CCIT. In the Schematic Design Phase, JVP Engineers evaluated the architectural schematic design for the selection of the appropriate plumbing, fire protection and electrical systems, as well as, analyzing the building codes and other requirements that are applicable to the construction of the building.

In the Design Phase, we prepared the design of the plumbing, fire protection and electrical equipment and systems. In addition, JVP Engineers developed construction documents that indicated all system components of the plumbing, fire protection, and electrical (lighting), which will be based on the approved architectural design.

The new CCIT will continue and further Frostburg’s role as an educational anchor in the Frostburg community and as an important educational and cultural resource to the Maryland region. The construction of CCIT is a priority project in the University’s Master Plan. The project will utilized BIM and has achieved a LEED Gold Status.
