GSA – National Capital Region IDIQ

JVP Engineers’ involvement in this project was to prepare a design for the replacement of four (4) aging air conditioning chillers, of a total of 6,000 tons capacity, currently demanding excessive maintenance as well as energy consumption. Additionally, a timely review of operational efficiencies, the potential for use of a plate fin heat exchanger during beneficial climates and the potential for additional energy savings through the use of variable frequency motor drives on pumps, were all to be included in the design. Substantial cost savings were accomplished in the basic concepts, through investigation of viable alternatives, permitting additional efficiencies and improvements to be included, while maintaining original budget constraints.
