Woodrow Wilson Aquatic Center

The old pool facility on the Wilson High School campus was condemned and completely demolished. It was replaced with a state-of-the-art 49,683 square foot Aquatic facility on the same site.

The new “state-of-the-art” facility features:

  • A 25- yard X 50- meter competition pool
  • A wellness/leisure pool
  • An adult whirlpool
  • Spectator seating
  • Locker rooms
  • Administration areas
  • Building & pool support areas

The building’s exterior design reflects the architectural vocabulary of Woodrow Wilson High School. The brick façade is articulated with arches and horizontal cast stone sills and coping. The wave-like roof structure above the competition pool complements the masonry plinth and creates a special identity for the new facility. Located within the roof structure is a band of perimeter clerestory windows allowing natural light to filter to the competition pool space. The lobby offers panoramic views of the pool facilities.

JVP Engineers provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering services for the new facility. Our team of engineers also provided a study of different alternatives to select the most adequate systems for the facility including LCCA and consideration for LEED goals to qualify this facility as a LEED certified project.
